Dubai, Alaska Airlines flight makes emergency landing after worker falls asleep in cargo hold

An Alaska Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Seattle after an airport staff member fell asleep inside the plane and became trapped inside the cargo compartment. A ramp agent reportedly fell asleep inside the plane and ended up trapped inside Alaska Airlines flight 448, which was bound for Los Angeles from Seattle, according to a statement issued by Alaska Airlines. The pilot heard banging from beneath and the captain immediately returned to Seattle airport and declared an emergency landing, according to the statement. The plane flew for approximately 14 minutes. Amazingly, This asshole did not get fired. All the jobs I've had, I would have gotten fired for sleeping on the job. Most bosses dont enjoy paying someone to sleep.

I used to be a ramp agent and I always thought this could happen. You sit up in the cargo hold waiting for bags, sometimes there long wait times between bags and you sit up their sleepy and its easy to dose off and go to sleep. If there are no more bags and you dose off, the agents working outside are going to close the door, unaware you are in their.

When working with planes you would usually have a team of 3 to 6 with you on the ramp. The fact that these guys didnt make sure he was with them is insane.
Oh and some ramp workers can spend over 12 hours on the job regularly. At least it was temperature controlled. He could've died if it wasn't. -
