Dubai, Angel Tower Game Sample - PC/Doujin

Original Air Date: January 23, 2010 This is a Japanese dungeon adventure game from the doujin circle "Terminus", inspired by King's Field and Shadow Tower. If it looks a great deal like King's Field, then you may think that Terminus did a good job. The people (most anyway) are still "blank faces", as in, they have a nose and a mouth (maybe), but limited "other" facial features...particularly no eyes. The game runs at a smooth framerate (it reads 75fps...or maybe my counter is messed up) and it may seem like a King's Field 1.5. Visually, the game, in many ways, looks crisper and cleaner than either King's Field 1, 2, or 3. However, the environments leave much to be desired. I loved exploring mountains and watching waterfalls and the like in King's Field 3 (it's King's Field II in the U.S.). Without large open and shut environments, a lot of the King's Field symbolism seems missing. There is a certain sense of "height" in the game, but it's very limited. Spells are fairly simple too, whereas King's Field 3 and 2 had a couple of sweet spells (I loved Flash). You can get a variety of weapons, talk to various NPCs, find hidden rooms like King's Field and explore a large world...but the music kinda sucks (it's too repetitive) and...I guess that's my only other complaint. If the music were better and the world were more open and incorporated a lot more height (for greater sense of scale), the game would be great. As is, it's okay. King's Field fans may find something to like in Angel Tower and it was a fair attempt to recreate the classic King's Field experience. You can still hear the footsteps and howls of demons...even when you can't see em'. Anyway, enjoy. NOTE: While I did it in this video (because it was kinda funny), you must NEVER kill the NPCs...especially the ones that sell stuff. Unlike monsters, they don't seem to come back.
