Officials at a New Jersey airport had to call in a Bronx Zoo veterinarian to help with a bizarre security problem: a wolverine had chewed through its cage. The animal was en route from Norway to a wildlife conservation center in Alaska and had a connecting flight at Newark Liberty International Airport. Sarah Howard, a curator for the wildlife center in Alaska, had flown to meet the wolverine in New Jersey. She noticed a hole in the metal crate. “His head was sticking out,” Howard told the New York Times. Reuters reported officials called in a Bronx Zoo veterinarian to tranquilize the animal before caretakers moved it to a different crate. Joseph Pentangelo, a spokesperson for the Port Authority, told reporters they made a secure transfer. The new crate was placed inside a transport van to move the wolverine to its connecting flight, “just to add another level of security, so that the wolverine wasn’t a threat to himself or the public,” Pentangelo said. Airport officials also called a Port Authority police officer to the terminal, according to the Times. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
