With this short series I hope to explain to you all how to undertake a castle build and get effective results. By the end of this you should make an effective, good looking castle. I know I went on and on about "taking in the thought process" etc, but I am just trying to make sure you know this isn't a block by block tutorial, and I know you guys are not here to copy someone, you are here to learn the good old tips and tricks of uncle grolan. Funny that i stumble upon this now as im trying to make a Kaer Morhen inspired bastion in minecraft ... i can only say playing different coloured wool blocks helps a LOT in preparation - it takes a little bit more in time of course, but i think its worth it as i can tell so far from my little project ...

see, my issue is, wtf do i do if i'm trying to build walls on horrifically uneven surfaces, like in the extreme hills biome

You're building a kingdom. A castle is what you called a "tower".

i love this! but it could definitely benefit from some banners on the front in addition to the flags and vines. they have a very medieval feel and are basically explicitly for this sort of thing.
