The Aquarium team at Burj Al Arab recently hosted an educational experience for the Dubai British School to educate the pupils about the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP). http://ow.ly/wMX5E The children were so motivated by the project that they went away and managed to raise $2,000 to purchase their own satellite tag. The Aquarium team attached the tag to a turtle, which the children decided to name Crush, after the baby turtle in the well-known Disney movie 'Finding Nemo'. On Tuesday 8 April 2014, 75 children were invited to the beach at Burj Al Arab to release Crush back into the waters. As a surprise, the Aquarium team also arranged for the children to release an additional 20 hawksbill turtles. This brings the total number of turtles released during the project to 583 - an incredible achievement for the DTRP, which will celebrate its tenth anniversary in June. The DTRP is based at Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah and runs in conjunction with Dubai's Wildlife Protection Office.
