The top out of Burj Dubai is expected in 4-5 months according to Adrian Smith. He also said that there would be only four habitable floors in the steel structure. Construction of the 9th steel floor has started, which puts Burj Dubai to 643.3 meters. The cladding work is scheduled to be finished in October 2008. OH MY! I MUST VISIT
-
it opens 9th september this year
-
perth if i were you i would find a villa in springs or meadows, or arabian ranches if you dont mind a longer car journey to get anywhere, or having to take the monorail everywhere. (does anybody know when the arabian ranches/dubailand monorail route opens by any chance?)

once it got to 52c when i was there, af i were you i would try to not go between the months of june and august, because you will stand outside and instantly vaporize! also it gets busy during those times. if by "real people" you mean the native arabs, you have no chance unless your going to rent a multi million pound mansion in the lakes or on jumeirah beach road. you could find somewhere in deira, but its a shithole in there pretty much

Thanks....44c wouldn't bother me...I used to live in Perth WA where the summers often topped out 40 plus....however I don't think I'll be there now until October....then it's SURE to be finished.....Please check out my videos of my model.....especially the night time video........Thanks.....

The Burj Dubai is planned to be opened on 09/09/09. So in August, it will be pretty much finished. The real Dubai people live near the old harbour/creek.

Hi, I'm coming to Dubai in August to see the finished Burj Dubai....I hear it may not complete then due to the economic downturn?...also...I want to stay in REAL dubai....where the REAL people live....any ideas?

This building is now topped out, meaning it has reached its full structural height. It has 162 floors (not counting unoccupied mechanical levels) and stands 818 meters / 2,683 feet tall. It is just over 1,000 ft taller than the 2nd tallest building in the world, the 1,671 ft tall Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan. The cladding will now be applied to the uppermost levels and the spire and then interior work will start/continue. The building and its entire complex open on 09/09/09...

Dubai currently has about 20 buildings that are finished or well under construction that are/will be 1,000 ft tall or taller. Roughly 3x that of the #2 city. The pics just show the tower's complex and the immediate area, one part of the city.

iam thinking here that it would be so horrible if a terrorist attack or something were to just totally knock that down as soon as it is open that would be fucked up and kinda cool to see the tallest building just fall over
