07:17 Main Stage Debate - CNN hosted a GOP Republican Presidential Debate from Las Vegas live, Tuesday December 15 2015. The topic for the debates was "National Security" which is a big topic sense there have been recent terror attacks in Paris France and also at home in the United States in San Bernardino California. The first debate was from about 6:30pm to about 8:15pm. The second debate started at around 8:30pm and lasted until about 11:30pm. Wolf Blitzer was the moderator, along with Hugh Hewitt who asked the occasional question. First stage debate featured Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, and George Pataki. Who knew Pataki was even in the race at all, let alone *still* running? I had no clue until they showed him on stage. Rick Santorum seemed somewhat of a strong presence on stage, but not strong enough to actually be running for President. Maybe he's a viable pick for vice president since he hasn't really ruffled any visible feathers. Mike Huckabee is a nice guy, but it's time for him to go. He's better fit to be on TV or to be a politician in a smaller arena like being the Governor of Arkansas as he was. Lindsey Graham was the star of the first debate, but for the wrong reasons. His strange analogies and constant harping on love and emotions was off putting. In a Presidential Debate, everyone on stage needs to appear to be strong and of leadership quality, not passionate and caring like a wife or a nurse. He invoked "princess buttercup" as it relates to Ted Cruz's foreign policy of leaving Assad alone, which, in fact, Ted Cruz is correct to do. This brings us to the second half of the debate, or the main stage at 8:30pm. The big boy's table. Not the JV team. This featured Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, and Rand Paul. For starters, Ted Cruz did very well. He spoke about non interventionism as it relates to Bashar Al-Assad, which is the correct thing to do. Assad is a secular democratically elected president, who will keep radical Islam to a minimum. To depose him would have the same affect it did in Iraq and Libya. Regime change is what the winner of the debate, Rand Paul, called that process. Mostly everyone on stage, even somewhat Ted Cruz, was a warhawk, advocating for more war in the middle east. Rand Paul distanced himself away from all of that talk and brought up x's and o's ... things that make sense to do in that region but mostly domestically in the United States. Everyone else on the main stage either didn't do well, or didn't do much of anything to register. I personally like Ben Carson, even thought he'd be the nominee. But he appears to be visibly tired and I think he was coughing the entire time, directly into the microphone! Which was very distracting. Jeb Bush did well in his media-inspired spat with Donald Trump on stage, but he did not do well outside of that. Jeb Bush has spent 25 million dollars on his campaign so far, but has nothing to show for it, mostly because he is too goofy. Trump was Trump, but didn't offer much in the way of substance in a debate that was centered around National Security, outside of standing by his stance to ban Muslim immigration and building a wall at the Southern border with Mexico. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– If you want to support me to continue to crank out these videos, please visit my website http://www.anthonyblogan.com/?page_id=48 and click on that donate button for me! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– You can catch me micro-blogging on a near 24/7basis on my social media platforms: http://www.twitter.com/anthonyblogan http://www.facebook.com/lcs.flyers Please take a moment and subscribe to my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/aloge?sub_confirmation=1 Stay tuned to my website http://www.anthonyblogan.com for more updates as they come in! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Republican primary debate was likely third most-watched ever http://money.cnn.com/2015/12/16/media/gop-debate-ratings/index.html Why Lindsey Graham quoted 'The Princess Bride', buttercup http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/15/politics/lindsey-graham-the-princess-bride-buttercup/ Donald Trump was upset about the line of questioning at the CNN GOP debate: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/very-sad-trump-slams-cnn-for-debate-questions/article/2578468?custom_click=rss
