Tuesday, 4th March 2008. Dubai, UAE. William Baker, SOM, talked about the structural engineering of Burj Dubai at the CTUH 8th Wrold Congress in Dubai. He mentioned that the goal of the Burj Dubai Tower was not simply to be the world's highest building; but to embody the world's highest aspirations. The final height of the building is a "well-guarded secret" and will "comfortably" exceed the current record holder, the 509 meter (1671 ft) tall Taipei 101. The 280,000 sq.m. (3,000,000 sq.ft.) reinforced concrete multi-use Burj Dubai Tower will be utilized for retail, hotel, residential and office.
