Yes, two-handing Havel's Greatshield is totally viable and funny at the same time. Try it out yourself to see. I won 90% of my fights. This is viable in DS2 too. I used a greatshield, 2 handed plus an estoc.
It's really funny. I keep blocking with the 2 handed. Most attacks will just bounce right off. Which I retaliate by switching to estoc, give a quick swipe, then back. Also funny when I just press up against people's face with my shield. Then the estoc hit and they just don't expect it.
The bane of that is a shield piercing weapon, which makes the match becomes another usual match with estoc. -

Builds like this could be easily prevented if they kept the shield bash from Dks2. I feel helpless against builds like this one. I kick and kick and their stamina doesn't drain.
