Art transcends confined spaces. The ivory tower myth is obsolete. Any responsible artist who has a platform carries a big responsibility on his shoulders - to make social statements. Dan Perjovschi lives in Bucharest and Sibiu. He has created personal exhibitions at Tate Modern in London, MoMa New York, Vanabbe Eindhoven, Macro Roma, Moderna Museet Stockholm, Reykyavik Art Museum, Brukenthal Sibiu or Kiasma Helsinki, as well as group exhibitions at Centre Pompidou Paris, Tate Liverpool, Stedelijk Amsterdam, Castello di Rivoli Torino, MoMA San Francisco, MUAC Mexico, MAM Warsaw, MCBA Lausanne, MOT Tokyo, or MSUM Ljubljana. He attended the art biennials in Manifesta, Istanbul, Venice, Sao Paulo, Moscow, Sydney, Lyon, Dublin and Jakarta. His first retrospective exhibition was held at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in 2007, while the second one was held at the Centre de Création Contemporaine din Tours in 2012. He was awarded the George Maciunas Prize in 2004 and, together with Lia Perjovschi, the European Cultural Foundation Princess Margriet prize in 2012.
