A Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour in Dubai is a great way to get an overview of the city. Various offers are available, we choose a ticket valid for 24 hours. As we only have a 7-hour stopover in Dubai, we can unfortunately not take advantage of all the offers included in the ticket. Coming from the airport, we begin our tour at the Deira City Center Shopping Mall. The bus crosses the Dubai Creek with its Dhows, as the traditional fishing boats are named in Dubai. Via the Khalid Bin Al Waled Road we continue to the Bur Juman Metro Station. From here the bus turns left into the Sheik Khalifa Bin Zayed Road. From the World Trade Center it is only called Sheik Zayed Road. It is the most street in Dubai with the most significant buildings in Dubai. The Sheik Zayed Road extends approximately to the junction to the new Palm Island, Palm Jebel Ali. The Dubai Metro is the most world's longest driverless operated system and also leads along the Sheik Zayed Road. The stations are relatively close so that you can reach the Metro without walking long distances in the heat of Dubai. The stations are equipped with the best air conditioning and if someone feels the need to cool down, he may go to the nearest metro station. For Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Metro is so important that at the inauguration he personally cut a ribbon at each station. It plays a central role for Dubai. 1 million cars come onto approx. 2 million residents. We reach for the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa via the Financial Centre Road. After visiting the world's tallest building, it goes back to the World Trade Center where the bus turns left into the 2nd of December Street. At the junction to Jumeirah Road, you see the highest flagpole in the world on the grounds of the Etihad Museum. Verschiedene Angebote stehen zur Auswahl, wir wählen ein 24-Stunden Ticket. Da wir nur einen 7 stündigen Zwischenstopp in Dubai machen, können wir leider nicht alle im Ticket enthaltenen Angebote ausnutzen. Nach Überquerung des Dubai Creek mit seinen Daus, wie die traditionellen Fischerboote in Dubai genannt werden, biegt der Bus in die Khalid Bin Al Waled Road ein und fährt bis zur Bur Juman Metro Station. Dort biegt er links ab in die Sheik Kalifa Bin Zayed Road. Ab dem World Trade Center nennt sie sich nur noch Sheik Zayed Road. Sie ist die bedeutendste Straße in Dubai, an der die meisten bedeutenden Gebäude Dubais liegen. Sie verläuft ungefähr bis zur Abzweigung zur neuen Palmeninsel, Palm Jebel Ali. An ihr entlang führt auch Dubais Metro, die modernste der Welt. Sie verkehrt Fahrerlos. Die Haltestellen sind relativ nahe aneinandergereiht, damit niemand in Dubai bei der Hitze weite Wege zur Metro laufen muss. Sie sind mit den besten Klimaanlagen ausgestattet und wenn jemand das Bedürfnis hat sich abzukühlen, kann er die nächste Metro Station aufsuchen. Scheich Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum ist die Metro so wichtig, dass er bei der Einweihung an jeder Station persönlich ein Band durchschnitten hat. Sie spielt für Dubai eine zentrale Rolle. Auf ca. 2 Millionen Bewohner kommen 1 Million Autos. Über die Financial Centre Road erreichen wir den Burj Khalifa und die Dubai Mall. Nach dem Besuch des höchsten Gebäudes der Welt geht es zurück bis zum World Trade Center, wo der Bus links in die 2nd of December Straße einbiegt. Der 2te Dezember ist das Datum der Unabhängigkeit der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate. Hier kann man noch das alte Dubai sehen, wie es bis zur Unabhängigkeit aussah. An der Kreuzung zur Jumeirah Road steht der höchste Fahnenmast der Welt auf dem Gebiet des Etihad Museums. Die Jumeirah Road ist nicht gesäumt von Hochhäusern, sonder eher von Ein- bis Mehrfamilienhäusern. Dazwischen reihen sich viele Hotel, Restaurants und bekannte Bars, aber auch viele Kliniken und Moscheen ein. Kurz vor dem Burj al Arab fährt der Bus einen öffentlichen Strand entlang.
