The building officially opened on 4 January 2010 and is part of the new 2 km2 flagship development called Downtown Dubai. Burj Al Arab Burj Al Arab is one of the most luxurious, and with height of 321m, it is fourth tallest hotel in the world. The building itself is one of the most photographed monuments in the world and is recognized as the symbol of Dubai. The shape of the building is designed to mimic the sail of a dhow – traditional sailing vessel. The building stands on artificial island and it is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is part of the Burj Khalifa complex and attracts more than 750,000 visitors every week. Attractions within the shopping mall include the famous Dubai Aquarium and Under Water Zoo, with the world's largest viewing panel, Dubai Ice Rink, Gold Souk, Fashion Catwalk atrium, Oasis Fountain Waterfall, SEGA Republic indoor park, 250-room luxury hotel, 22 cinema screens etc. The Dubai Fountain is the world's largest choreographed fountain system set on the 30-acre manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, at the center of the Downtown Dubai development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by WET Design, the California-based company responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors, it is 275 m (902 ft) long and shoots water up to 500 ft (152.4 m) into the air accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music. It was built at a cost of AED 800 million (USD 218 million).
