In 1554 the Lady Elizabeth (who would become Elizabeth I) was taken to the Tower of London and imprisoned, accused of being involved with the Wyatt rebellion of the same year. The experience must have been horrendous considering her Mother's death at the Tower. According to popular history, Elizabeth entered through Traitors Gate; however we now know that it was most likely the entrance at the Byward Poston that Elizabeth would have brought through. I have used some clips from Elizabeth R, one of my favourite dramas regarding the life of Elizabeth, to demonstrate the historical notion of her entrance through 'Traitors Gate'. I own nothing, no copyright infringement intended. Hope you enjoy!
