Extreme Engineering - MegaStructures - Build it Bigger SEASON: 1 EPISODE: 6 - Space Tower S01E06 From the skyscrapers of Dubai to the amusement parks of Minnesota, Danny Forster travels the world to break down the most astounding, complex engineering feats to date. In Build It Bigger, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT starting on July 10, architect Danny Forster takes you inside some of the most head-scratching builds in the world. Join Danny as he meets the men and women tackling the unique challenges of constructing the tallest buildings, the most effective military tanks, the largest luxury cruise ships, and the most extreme thrill rides. How do you build a 3,113-foot-long wooden roller coaster in winter temperatures of minus 40 degrees? Or get your workers safely to and from a worksite on a skyscraper that's 1,614 feet above street level? Or dig a water tunnel — along the San Adreas Fault and 1,000 feet below the earth's surface — without it collapsing on itself ... or flooding? Our intrepid host answers these puzzles and more. Don't miss the big stories behind these even bigger engineering marvels. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE INFORMATION AND VIDEOS -------------------------------------- WEB PAGE--------------------------------------- http://bochaproducciones.blogspot.com.ar/ -----------------------------------------TWITTER----------------------------------------- Bocha Producciones Twitter: https://twitter.com/BochaProduccion ----------------------------------------FACEBOOK-------------------------------------- Bocha Producciones Official Fan Page: https://www.facebook.com/bochaproducciones -------------------------------------------GMAIL------------------------------------------- For any problem or question: dieguito787@gmail.com

what was in the squirt bottle?
-
It's not 'iron' and 'iron worker'.... it's STEEL and STEEL FIXER!!!!!!!
And other thing, does the way that Danny says 'conc-rete' bother anyone else?! -
I love this show but I'm definitely not crazy about a concrete building.
-
The nerve ball reminded me of constipation
-
i wish this show would come back love it.

This architect in this video is very niave but i guess this experience will do him a huge life lessons in the long run.
Example, whilst i was working in S.E Asia constructing this style of building technique on more than one occasion we had civil engineers come to us especially when it came to commissioning the tower cranes used to build the building itself and they'd complain that the test weight used for the load test prior to it being signed off didn't look the the example of what they had in their text book which was a mere shape of a rostrum and all in all the shape had nothing to do with the permissible weight load limit that the cranes had to be calibrated to. Nvm just another example of people with no practical sense but niavety believing that a book told them this or that and that's the only way when in fact its not! -
Daniel Johnson concrete gets stronger with age!
-
Steve Kimble answer: The size of the foundations that are part of the basement and the concrete used are of great strength compared to the upper levels and the higher you go the lighter you need to make the materials so that every other supporting level underneath is capable of holding all the levels above in total! Its whats know as the critical mass and computations of a structual design which is modelled using mathematical formula's and integrity statistics of materials that are being used prior to creating the structure,it's what civil engineers do in collaboration with architects and project managers off site and also onsite during the build process so as to make sure the build is performed as to specifications otherwise disaster and alot of people could die. Also furthermore i worked extensively throughout S.E Asia, based in Singapore during the 90's and this guy stating that this technique is NEW is false it's old,it may be the new way to build in other countries but it is old technology!

I don't know why people are so concerned with making oddball skyscrapers!! If they would just build a standard square or rectangle, it would take a 1/4 of the time, they could build about everything prefab off site and just throw the sucker up amazingly quick. No special crazy twists in the building, all that stupid stuff that just doesn't matter. Save a shit load of money!!!
-
Okay, so I don't know about physics so I gotta ask: How with each level created out of concrete and steel and all the weight the lowest level not buckle?
-
this dude is a bitch
-
This operation looks like it was being overseen by a 3 year old. So haphazard.
-
Concrete is most certainly not something we should be using to build structures anymore, especially ones as big as this. If we want them to be sustainable in any manner, or safe in the long-term without rebuilding every few years we need to start re-thinking what we use to build and how we do it.
-
this is obviously not a space tower
-
Yeah thats why these buildings fall down on themselves in these countries because they just say fuck it when the materials do not pass the quality and specifications tests.

Here we go again, he is such a wuss. Complaining about every little bit of actual work he has to do. He went to Architectural school and learned a little bit about engineering which means he learned how to be another over paid artist. That is what architects are really just useless artists. They expect the people who actually know how to do things figure out everything they want done and have no clue as to how to do it.
-
Sorry to inform you, but the world record for pumping concrete is over 600 meters, at the Burj Khalifa in the city of Dubai. That monstrous tower stands 828 meters tall, which is 2717 feet. That's over a half-mile tall!
I mean no disrespect to this building or the job that was done, but the world record is in Dubai and NOT in Spain! -
"Surveyors show up in the middle of the night..."
"It is 5 in the morning right now..."
Huh?
