A pity Edward IV did not live long enough to see his heir an adult.Edward was the first Renaissance prince, yet all the fuss over his disloyal brother. This rubbish about E Woodville and her supposed power is just that. Her brothers were captive and murdered by Richard and she fled to sanctuary.

@ptb2006 Amen. May the King Richard live forever!!!!

After all, Richard had literally spent his entire lifetime in a warzone, and his memories of the earlier massive bout of fighting in 1460 and 61 must have had an effect on him. He probably overestimated the Woodville's strength and influence and decided the throne was the only way out. Unfortunately for him, his rule was seriously undermined by what was seen to be an unnecessary usurpation; enough to allow Henry Tudor to return to England and challenge him for the throne.

There is evidence to support both sides of the argument, so calling the other side idiotic doesn't really hold water here. My personal view is that Richard did have the Princes killed - he was the man with the motive and really just about the only person to gain from their deaths. I believe that Richard was a desperate man, fearful of what the Woodvilles would do to him as they would have almost complete control over Edward V, and made himself King for those reasons.

Legitimate or not, two little boys were murdered and Richard III remains the number 1 suspect.
