I have watched many videos like this, and so far none that I have watched explain how the vehicle being towed steers itself or if the battery needs to be disconnected to leave the ignition key on to unlock the steering column and not run down the towed vehicle's battery or fry the cars sensors, which can happen on some vehicles when the ignition key is left on. I am considering removing the drive shaft on my Express van to tow it 4 down if needed behind my rear engine International school bus.

Is your RV charging your towed vehicle while your heading down the highway? If not how long are you good with power to run the braking system... etc. Great video, thank you

Thanks Tito! I've only had travel trailers, but wanted to know a bit about Class A and tow vehicle. Car, I mean. Just seems like a coin flip decision as far as connecting tow car vs connecting a travel trailer. Class A vs travel trailer, about the same difficulty I think. I'm very good at doing travel trailer, so this would be about the same I think. Decisions, decisions, which will be our next RV?! Oh me, good to have choices.

That's way too many steps, just get a dolly, front wheels off the ground,no mileage on your odometer, alot less trouble. He must be a rep for all that high cost equipment.

Note that depending on the state and the weight of the towed vehicle a supplementary brake system might not be mandatory. In any event blanket statements on this topic, has have been made in this thread, are not valid.

Is additional insurance needed for the towed car behind the motorhome?
-
That looks like WAY too much work to hook up a car. That braking system inside the car seems unnecessary.

Your suv is auto transmission. Don't mess up doing flat towing?
-
to much to hook up or go wrong ill take my truck and tow behind trailer any day over this setup here

I have a Kia Sportage 4x4 that I might want to tow behind a Chevy Express 2500 or 3500 van. The Kia dealer said I can't flat tow, it would need to go all 4 wheels up on a tow dolly. Would the type of tow system you show here be a way around this? Do you know if it's legal in all states to tow an SUV behind a van? The Kia is a 6 cyl and weighs about 4850 lbs. Thanks very much for showing this.

Thanks for the video.....quick question though....usually, unless the engine is running, the brakes are pretty useless after two or three pumps on the pedal. Feels stiff as a board. How are the car brakes effective without the vacuum booster operating? Thanks...

Hi Brian, thank you so much for sharing this video. I saw it a couple of times just to educate my self on what is needed. I am contemplating the idea of investing in something like this but my big question is how can I confirm that my RV is suitable for towing. I have a Minie Winnie 22R that on the specifications says that it has a towing capacity of 5K LBS. I have a 2008 Honda Element EX that has specifications of 3580/3660 Curb Weight. My RV is an 8 Cylinder so I am just trying to make sure I am understanding this specifications to make sure I can safely tow my Element with a similar setup that you have. I would appreciate if you can commend on this or if anyone here with experience that can confirm if I should or not. Thanks so much Brian for another great video.

Would it be possible to also tow a small jetski behind the suv?
-
just buy a trailer....
-
Can you reverse the Rv with the suv connected ?
-
overkill for towing a small suv, i agree with beach er

What's really sad about this setup is that all the equipment, (very specific vehicle choices, vehicle brackets, tow bar, brake controller, taillight re-wiring), costs a ridiculous amount, (about $3,000 to $7,000 depending on brands and who does the installation). Then there is the toad's odometer and wear and tear on the tires, bearings, CV joints, and suspension components.
Or, you can purchase an old VW bug/old CJ jeep/Samurai/etc....,(brake controller is not required because the vehicles are under 1,500 pounds), a $50 tow bar, $19 magnetic brake lights, and be good to go! -
Do you recommend any dinghy tips for a high-performance application? When I get the funds I want to go RVing to track days, dinghying the sports car in question.

the only issue i have with towing like this is it runs the miles up on the care even if its not running and causes wear on the drive train i bought a car hauling trailer i put my car on it strap it down and it never touches the road until i'm at my site . it also is easier to tow
