IRAQ “VERTICAL CITY” WOULD HAVE WORLD’S TALLEST TOWER Groundbreaking vertical transportation would be part of The Bride tower, a proposed building in Basra Province, Iraq, by AMBS Architects that, at 1,152 m and 230 stories, would be the new world's tallest structure, dezeen reports. Surpassing the height of both the Kingdom Tower and Burj Khalifa, it is part of a four-tower, mixed-use "vertical city" that also includes 724-, 484- and 61-m-tall towers. A glazed canopy on the building's south façade resembles a veil and would shield it from heat. The building is designed to produce as much energy as it consumes. No timeframe for the project was given.
