DUBAI: The first edition of VicenzaOro Dubai (VOD) opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on 27 to 30th April and brought together over 500 brands from 20 countries who had been exhibiting the very latest in high range jewellery in the four days of the glittering show. The event opened with an array of leading global gold and jewellery companies with Seminars, business meetings and exclusive social events being part of the prestigious event. A day before the event, Le Vian had previewed the show and its recently released lifestyle collection at the plush seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel, where attendees mixed and mingled with jewelry-clad models and got to admire the brand’s finest scarves, handbags, and shoes at close range. CEO Eddie LeVian—was evidently the most happiest person especially because of his brand’s official Dubai debut and termed it a “historic” day. The event further consolidated Dubai’s standing as of one of the world’s leading luxury destinations and the undisputed jewellery capital of the Middle East and wider region. A joint venture between Fiera di Vicenza (FdV) and DWTC which also created the Dubai-based consortium, DV Global Link, VicenzaOro Dubai had opened as the leading B2B jewellery platform for the Middle East, Africa, Central and South-east Asia, and Russia. Termed as the new ‘Super Show’ it had attracted support from high-level partners including Dubai Multi Commodity Centre (DMCC), Dubai Gold Jewellery Group (DGJG), and L’Azurde. It was a collaboration between two of the world’s leading trade event organisers and managers in DWTC and Fiera di Vicenza. The opening day of the exhibition kicked off with a lot of activities and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting was conducted by His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, director general of Dubai department of information. He later walked the show floor—that ended with a Le Vian Fashion Show, which featured models clad literally head (earrings) to toe (shoes) in Le Vian designs. Gold is in the DNA of the Indian citizen as it is in the Arab world,” said Gem & Jewellery Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) vice chairman Pankaj Parekh, explaining the group’s natural fit with VicenzaOro Dubai. The show boasted a record registered buyers from 75 countries.
