Dubai, Left for Dead: Quadriplegic man abandoned in the woods by mom who went to see boyfriend

A Philadelphia mother was arrested in Maryland over the weekend on charges of abandoning her 21-year-old son—who is a non-verbal quadriplegic with cerebral palsy—in some woods near her home. The woman, 41-year-old Nyia Parler, apparently laid her son on a pile of leaves, covered him with a blanket and put a Bible on his chest before abandoning him. The boy's school called the mom when he did not show up for school, but the mom told authorities her son was with her in Maryland. Five days after being left for dead, the man was found and taken to hospital. He is in surprisingly good condition considering his situation, doctors say he is suffering from exposure, dehydration and malnutrition, but his life is not said to be in danger. The mother was arrested and now faces a list of criminal charges that could see her sent away for a long time.
