My let's play of Dark Souls 2 will serve as a gameplay guide / tutorial / walkthrough / playthrough / review with commentary. Dark Souls 2 is an atmospheric action RPG with strong horror elements. It is the follow-up to 2011's cult and critical hit, Dark Souls and it is yet another spiritual successor to From Software's Demon's Souls and King's Field series. The game is heavily influenced by the Berserk manga and anime by Kentaro Miura. Dark Souls 2 was released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 on March 11th, 2014. The PC version of the game will be released on April 25th on Steam. About Demon's Souls and Dark Souls: Demon's Souls is a master piece of atmospheric world building and tense action RPG / horror. In Demon's Souls, every facet of the game is steeped in mystery. Very little aside from the necessary controls detailed in the sparse tutorial is made explicit. This fact, coupled with the sheer density of secrets, hidden gear, mechanics, and lore makes for a rich and rewarding game that is as much about discovery as anything else. I could write a novel in the description about how much I love this game, and I would never quite be able to get firm grasp on it. It is a game that has to experienced, either through an LP (hint hint) or through playing it yourself. Whatever sorcery is at work making this such wonderful gem, it stands out as being my favorite RPG ever. Dark Souls is an open world spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Like Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is a brutal, dark, gothic fantasy action RPG. I could write another love letter to this game here in the description and pore over every wonderfully recognized detail, but there's not enough space to gush. seeing you pop a human effigy for the curse made me think and the gears got turning. what if the curse debuff isnt really a curse...what if its your humanity trying to leave your body and rejoin with the dark soul? what if thats why the shards of manus cause curse??

I think smelty 2.0 is more of a lore boss than anything else thats why they were lazy with it. im trying to work it out still grom theroys i came up with and read. but think who/what is smelty and why was he like guarding the old iron king and now theres a stronger one i guess at the home ground. theres some lore to it

Thinking of some day getting Dark Souls 1 and 2. DS2 I have a specific run in mind. I am thinking of being an idiot/crazy person by never using any armor aside from the armor set you start the game off before you pick your class. All because I love the look of it and can't bare the thought of using something else. All I know I'll be getting lots of practice with the dodge rolls and the like. Thankfully, I have watched quite a bit of Dark Souls so I know, generally speaking, what stats to increase and have an idea of how various areas work.
Feeling a lot like how I was with Team Fortress 2 for a while. I knew of and watched the game for a few years before getting the game when it became Free To Play. So, I went into the game knowing how everything worked pretty much. -
I HATE smelty 2.0! Given his new magic typing he has ridiculous magic resist which was a huge problem for my int build with the moonlight greatsword. I mean with 50 int and staff of wisdom +5 souls spear did only 60 damage. It made my build completely worthless so I had to use a soul vessel and respec. Any boss that renders a particular build useless is bad design in my opinion. /end rant

I actually thought the next boss was easiest. Got him my first try actually. Reminded me a lot of False King Allant.

if you have any trouble with the curse status, grab the hollow mask (don't exactly remember what it's called) by following this path:
foyer bonfire, use the elevator upwards, step off and use the next elevator right ahead (the elevator looks like some kind of metal plate) and there is an illusory wall behind that elevator (it is approximately 2 meters above the lowest point the elevator takes you, so you need to wait til it starts moving up to disenchant the illusion) and there you will find a chest containing the mentioned head piece, which increases the curse resist to 1000 - basically immunity. -
that lever opens the gate at the back of the hallway. you have to co-op to get passed that

There are NPC phantoms for the Shulva gank squad, they're at the start of the area. You have to babysit them through the bullshit. (Warmth helps)
Blue Smelter Demon is also doing magic damage, rather than fire. -
you killed his red brother blue smelter was mad and now since you killed them pink smelty will be even more mad at you
