Is the One World Trade Center Moving? Take a look at this trippy video I took of the OWTC and tell me if it's not swaying from side to side at the top part. Structurally these new buildings are obviously built to the the impact of the wind so seeing the building move from side to side should be normal. But standing right at the bottom of the Freedom Tower gave me the shivers! Let me know what you think! Background: Just recently visited the One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower WTC) in Manhattan, New York. Walked around, checked out all the landmarks and was incredibly impressed with the One World Trade Center architecture despite what the critics have to say. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go into the Freedom Tower and take the elevator to the top as the workers at the entrance told me I need to buy the tickets online and choose the "showing". So that was a bummer. Instead of buying tickets to see the top of the One World Trade Center, I took a video and pictures of the building. While I was looking towards the top I noticed the Freedom Tower moving! I told my buddies to take a look and they also agreed! So I made a video and wanted to show everyone what I saw. The One World Trade Center building is freaking swaying at the top!!!

its an illusion, when skyscrapers soar really high like that with clouds moving, it makes it seem like its moving but its not. The clouds moving above them projects an image on to making the building move. Its still cool though

Of course it is swaying, like all skyscrapers do in wind. I have been to the top of it and the day I went, there were wind gusts. If you really really try, you can feel it, but not when you're walking around, and your body adjusts. However, this building is designed to sway as it is actually a moderately flexible building, and it can withstand a jet impact or an earthquake. Like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, it is designed to sway and move because of the flexible cables that hold it up, so if an earthquake hits San Francisco as many have before, the cables are far less likely, almost impossible to snap because they are so flexible to begin with.

Everyone be happy it's only swaying/moving in the wind and not collapsing or else we would have 9/11 all over again😣

Dis is trippy

All skyscrapers that tall are designed to sway a lot instead of resisting earthquakes or the wind. Naturally, earthquakes aren't an issue in NY so there is no tuned mass damper to cancel out violent swaying which might make people upset or cause damage to the building. This particular building would likely withstand a small nuclear blast because all of the steel is of the highest possible grade and covered in high grade concrete, and if I recall correctly at some points the core of the building is encased in reinforced concrete that is a meter thick. Makes nuclear reactors look like they are built out of plywood. Not to mention the substructure and first 200 feet or so of the tower are even more indestructible which is why there are no windows at grade or above level until you reach about 200 feet up, but thankfully it looks much better than I was expecting.

it didnt sway much because of the design

Scalia is dead. Scalia...is dead. 4-4 in Supreme Court now. Gore would have won with that kind of court. Still, your FFVI mIusic boxes playing Aeris's theme that can't be bought make me more jealous than anything. ;) Donated over a grand to Bernie Sanders. Not even joking.

it doesn't sway this much in the amount of wind shown in the video , i'd say it's the clouds which made it looks like it swayed

Just git back from New York two days ago and was able to go to the top of one world trade center for the bargain of 32 dollars after military discount. I encourage everyone to tour this tower.

I went to the top of the tower last weekend and as soon as you step off the elevator on the 40 second ride to the top, you can immediately feel the swaying of the building and everyone was whispering about it. However the old twin towers swayed much more than this new one. But yes it does sway a few inches and you can feel it when you are at the top. We had lunch up top and after 10-15 minutes you can't feel it anymore.

It's just the clouds, I promise you

Holy shit... I'd run dude. RUuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!

I don't think it's the clouds moving. If you look at the clouds the never move down more, just staying in one place. And do clouds really move that fast? Nice video!
