I've been researching castle cakes because I want to make one for my daughter's bday. This is AMAZING, my favorite so far, thanks for posting it, I love it
-
I covered them with fondant, and then painted them with edible glitter dust. It was very easy, and the glitter comes in many different colors.
-
My question is how war you able to ice the tower and have sparkles
-
wonderful job..!! lucky Ronnie! :) xx
-
Wow, you're so talented. Wish I could make cakes like yours! x
-
job well done! Congratulations

The towers are plastic, they came in the Wilton Kit. The turrets are also plastic, and I covered them with pink fondant, and then edible glitter.
-
SUPER!! What are the towers made from?
-
Alicia -- I sent you a message with my email addy. Can't wait to see yours!!!!
-
Do you have an email address? I want to send you a pic of mine. Thanks for all your info. To anyone else making this cake and taking it to a party for example. I found the towers were not sturdy so I got my husband to drill into the bottom of the towers and then put dowells all the way through to hold the towers up

tres beau ! bravo !
-
When they dried, I painted them with edible glitter. It gave them a nice tough,

You'll end up with a "rose" on each end, so pinch it in the middle. You may need to use a toothpick to pull the petals apart just a bit. You'll need to play around with the thickness and size of each circle. It is a bit of a pain! ---- I still have about 100 left over from my daughters cake, they are hard as rock and a few months old, but let me know if you want them! I'm happy to send them to you! =]
-
Thanks! I;m sure your will turn out great -- remember to have fun doing it! =] The roses are called "Duffy roses." You can look up videos on YouTube that will show you how to make them - there are a million ways to do it, I used gum paste (I bought it at Micheal's in the cake aisle -- it's cheaper than fondant and a bit sturdier. You make three small circles of gum paste (I used the cap of a Tylenol bottle to cut them out). Overlap the circles just a bit, and then roll them together.

Nope -- I left the towers as they were. I figured since the cake was white, I could get away with leaving the towers uncovered. But they really wouldn't be hard to cover. The fondant was much easier to work with than I thought it would be! This was my first time doing anything other than a 9 x 13 flat cake! =]

Thanks so much for that. Did you cover the whole tower (the long bits) in fondant? I can't believe how good it looks. Do you do other cakes professionally or was this the 1st?
-
Enjoy making it!! It was heck to do, but so much fun!! And take pictures along the way so you can see the process. That was fun! ----- For the turrets, I just put a tiny bit of frosting along the bottom edge of each one and used that to "glue" them down. I covered them with fondant and edible glitter. Another tip -- do NOT move the cake once it is done! The darn thing will fall apart ... sigh.

This cake is amazing. I just bought this kit to make this cake for my daughters 3rd birthday. How did you get the turrets to stand up? Did you just cover the pink top pieces in fondent? Thanks for any info you can give me.

The towers are part of the Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Kit. They are plastic, and I coated the turrets with fondant and edible glitter. Same with the windows and doors. Its a great kit!

Beautiful! Very creative! One question: how'd u make the towers? What's it made of?
