The presumptive GOP nominee has called to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S. However, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker believes Trump only said that for political gain. The CEO of one of the world's top airlines believes Donald Trump the president would be very different than Donald Trump the campaigner. "It's all smoke and mirrors with Donald," Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker told CNN on Wednesday. "Donald is a businessman -- at the end of the day he will see what is in the best interest of his country." Trump's anti-immigration and anti-Muslim rhetoric, Al Baker said, was designed to appease right-wing voters. Al Baker's tone was softer than some of his previous remarks about Trump, whom he describes as a friend. In December, the airline executive said that Trump would "not be welcome" in Muslim countries after he proposed banning Muslims from entering the U.S. Now, the CEO is taking a more pragmatic view of Trump's policy statements. "I'm a businessman and I will even do business with the devil as long as it's win-win for both," Al Baker said. The Gulf airline, along with the UAE’s Emirates and Etihad, is embroiled in a war of words with the three big US carriers over alleged unfair subsidies. The Partnership for Open & Fair Skies, a coalition formed by the three US airlines, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “He is my friend. Donald Trump is a very successful businessman,” said Al Baker. “Regardless if it is in the interest of certain entities or not, he will look at the general interest of the American public.” On Friday, a petition to ban Trump from entering the United Kingdom under hate speech laws passed the half a million mark. The petition is currently the most popular on the British government's site and will be considered for debate in the British parliament.
