From mid 2016, there was speculation that RBI will release notes of Rs.2000, yet RBI has not commented on the status. Recently some photos blue print of Rs.2000 notes are going viral on social media. RBI neither commented in favor of rumor nor against it. Till now RBI chooses to be silent on issue and on photos going viral. Currency notes and coins are printed/minted at about eight units owned by the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), a finance ministry company. As introduction of big currency notes will definately add up to increase in black money and corruption. Sources, reported that notes are already printed in SPMCIL, Mysore and are on verge on dispatch and will be available from Feb 2017. Earlier RBI printed notes of denomination of Rs.10,000 but were discontinued later on. The issue of the Rs.2000 note can in a way get easy and as per the 2014-2015 RBI statistics, the two top most currency notes RS 500 and RS 1000 accounted for about 86 % of the new currency notes and the incident of the cash transactions at high volume will get easy and inductive. All and all we have to wait for some comment by RBI or Finance Ministry. RBI will soon release the press release for the same. credit - Vishal Singh (Quora)
