rich kids on Revolver in 1978 with Ghosts of Princes in Towers. Introduction by late great Peter Cook https://www.facebook.com/MidgeUreInformationService lyrics Ain't it fascinating the difference between those who have You know there's those who make it and there's those who never may And it's fascinating because it's really very clear You've either got it honey Or you ain't... Well you go and you tell me your ambitions But then you say Rome wasn't built in a day But Thomas the Imposter he lived a lie It didn't matter at all that was his way... Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the soft boys and how Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the sharp ones - they're now... So these Ghosts, these Princes in Towers Seems to me they've got it made 'Cos they sulk and they strut for no reason Well maybe they ain't afraid... Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the soft boys and how Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the sharp ones - they're now... And it's ONE - remember number one TWO well it's true That THREE so free and easy that Be FOUR too long you come back to this... Just a'singing 'bout Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the soft boys and how Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the sharp ones - they're now... Ghosts of Princes in Towers They're the sharp ones - they're now...

One of the greatest songs ever written!
-
so glad i saw them as the original line up in London on Jan 2010 shortly before the world lost steve. got the priceless t shirt
-
Brilliant their album was brilliant if badly produced!
-
fuck me - this sounds like a lost Manic Street Preachers gem!
-
The second best Brit punk band - how did they ever get buried?
-
Cant believe how Stiff Little Fingers this sounds. Midge Ure's vocals is pure Jake Burns, and as Rich Kids came first I would say SLF were heavily influenced by them me thinks.!

What a racket
-
golly I loved this when it came out. Only later to learn the sorry dull facts of who made it and their various crimes against greatness. Yes Matlock included. Never yet heard him say anything interesting about being in That band... This remains a great little glam punk song anyhow.

I got into The Rich kids because of this programme. I taped it with the mic up to the telly and two keys pressed down.
The album was a comparative letdown. Horribly mixed and slushy sounding. -
They rocked it. Thanks for posting mate.
-
Cool as f*ck, Generation X were in the audience bopping about as I remember.
-
A far better single than Rich Kids.
-
I LOVE this band, they should've been huge! Maybe not "should've", but it would've been nice anyway.
-
Sorry thought it was more than that!
-
They have reformed going on tour!
-
fuck Fleetwood Mac this slays em.
-
Tip Top , thanks for posting it.

Underrated punk band. The Rich Kids imploded way too quickly. Great performance here.

Since there's been such a positive response to the two live Rich Kids videos I just posted on google+ thought I might as well share this also. For those new to Rich Kids, it was bassist Glen Matlock's first band after he was kicked out of Sex Pistols in February, 1977. Just one month later he teamed up with guitarist Steve New and drummer Rusty Egan. Midge Ure (ex Slik/ PVC2 guitar, vocals) joined in September and Rich Kids were good to go. Starting in January 1978 the band released three singles, the last of which featured the A-side Ghosts Of Princes In Towers. The song became the title of their first and only album released in late 1978. The LP, however, was not a big success, only peaking at # 51 on the UK charts. But Ghosts Of Princes In Towers is a GREAT song, and this live version smokes the one on the album, with more excitement and emotion. I've never gotten tired of seeing this video---a truly wonderful performance.
