Dubai, Russian SU-27 Flanker recklessly and aggressively intercepts U.S. spy plane

The United States defense department has accused Russia of an aggravated and unsafe air interception of a reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea on April 7. A U.S. RC-135U plane was flying in international airspace over Poland near Russia's Kaliningrad region, when a Russian SU-27 Flanker approached the aircraft from behind at high speed. According to early reports, the Russian aircraft reportedly passed within six meters of the unarmed American plane. The SU-27 then performed two more close passes of the U.S. plane. Russian officials have denied doing anything wrong and alleged the RC-135U's transponder was turned off. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman. Major General Igor Konashenkov claimed the Russian jet made several passes was only trying to identify the plane and its tail number. A U.S. European Command official said that claim was false, and that the Pentagon intends to file a complaint with the the Russian military. "Unprofessional air intercepts have the potential to cause harm to all aircrews involved. Why are there so many ignorant twats commenting on this story? The fact that the American plane was intercepted isn't the reason for the complaint. It was the dangerous actions of the Ruskie pilot. So many people here yammering on about how America is being hypocritical when in fact it has been an accepted practice between all major powers since the cold war began. Complaints will be filed and it will end with nothing as they all do anyway. Putin knows as long as Obumbles is president America is his bitch.

Everyone keeps saying "russia was protecting its territory". It wasn't even over russia and it was in INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE. And Great Britain ( America's biggest Allie) is close to the area it was flying so it would no be weird for a US plane to be flying there.

The only thing that bothers me about this story is that it's so common. It's like reporting that there are clouds in the sky or that water will get you wet. In the U.S., our pilots even military ones, have to deal with fairly strict FAA regulations. Many other nations have far less regulation over what pilots can and cannot do. This kind of thing happens all the time. I doubt the Russian pilot will face any sanctions, simply because in his nation's eyes he can make the case he was checking out a possible threat.
