The Shanghai Tower (Chinese: 上海中心大厦; pinyin: Shànghǎi Zhōngxīn Dàshà; literally: "Shanghai Center Tower") is a megatall skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. Designed by Gensler and owned by a consortium of Chinese state-owned companies, it is the tallest of a group of three adjacent supertall buildings in Pudong, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. The building is 632 metres (2,073 ft) high and has 128 stories, with a total floor area of 380,000 m2 (4,090,000 sq ft). Its tiered construction, designed for high energy efficiency, provides multiple separate zones for office, retail and leisure use. The Shanghai Tower was completed in the summer of 2015. Construction work on the tower began in November 2008.Following its topping out on 3 August 2013, the Shanghai Tower is currently the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world, surpassed only by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It was scheduled to open to the public in June 2015, but this has not happened as of late November 2015. La Jin Mao Tower a été achevée en 1998 et le Shanghai World Financial Center en 2008. Après de nombreux projets proposés par diverses agences architecturales, deux projets arrivent en finale début 2008, tous les deux d’une hauteur de 580 mètres. Celui appelé Dragon par l'agence Gensler fut choisi en juin 2008, c’est une tour recouverte de verre dont la structure décrit une spirale s’élevant vers le ciel. La tour dispose de neuf jardins intérieurs à différents niveaux, situés entre le bâtiment principal et la façade de verre, chacun d'une hauteur d’au moins 10 mètres. Un parc public a également été créé à l’intérieur du bâtiment. Le 31 janvier 2014, deux jeunes Russes (Vadim Makhorov et Vitaliy Raskalov) déjà connus pour des exploits similaires, réussissent à pénétrer sur le chantier de la tour en profitant du calme du Nouvel An chinois. Sur une durée étalée de 18 heures, ils arrivent à monter au sommet de la tour puis à grimper sur une des grues de construction sans aucun système de sécurité.
