The entry foyer of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world. It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried next to the mosque. The mosque opened in 2007. Regardless of one's religious persuation, this is a magnificent structure; Abu Dhabi pulled out all the stops and it's a splendid example of Islamic architecture without being garish.
