-
you met me at a very strange time in my life
-
it happened to me yesterday in Romania bucharest, the building was hard and it was a 6.1 earthquake and i was on the 10th floor and the building was swinging like a swing (sorry for my english)
-
May I have this dance ?
-
I hope this didn't happen right after lunch.
-
You can thank base isolators which are installed in the basement to take the shaking and enable the buildings on top of them to move with the seismic waves.
-
It would scare the shit out of the person living at the top floor
-
How much more could they sway short of falling over ? What´s the math in it ?
-
I perfectly understand that this makes skyscrapers safer to live in, but it really does not change the fact that it's scary as hell.
please understand that i am not trying to be a negative Nancy here, but I can't really imagine living in sky skyscrapers this big. I live in a 27 level building already, that's enough already. -
Civil engineering at its best
