This time though, the veteran free climber couldn't ascend in his preferred spider-like way. "Spiderman" was spotted scaling the Bakrie Tower in Jakarta on Sunday morning. The French free-climber Alain Robert is known for climbing without any safety harness—earning him the nickname. But this time it was a bit different. Local police didn't allow him to scale with his bare hands. [Alain Robert, Free-Climber]: "It was going to be tiring because I have never climbed two hundred meters using suction cups." The 49 year-old climbed the 47 floor-business building—one of the tallest in Jakarta—in less than two-and-a-half hours. The climb was part of a celebration for the anniversary of a local broadcaster. [Alain Robert, Free-Climber]: "This is a specific demand and right away I understood that there would be no possibility for me to use only my fingers." Alain Robert has been arrested several times in different countries for climbing buildings without permission. He has climbed more than 80 skyscrapers around the world in the last 15 years, including the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building and the Taipei 101.
