ATLANTA — Federal agents arrested a State Department employee flying out of Atlanta this week and charged him with running an extensive “sextortion” scam, claiming he stole sexually explicit pictures of college coeds from their Internet accounts and then blackmailed them for more photos and videos. Michael C. Ford, a staff worker at the American embassy in London, is suspected of victimizing hundreds of young college girls across the country by hacking into their accounts to find sexually explicit photos using his State Department computer. The married sleezebag would then threaten to post the photos with their name and address unless the victims sent him more explicit material. Ford, who has lived in Great Britain since 2005, faces multiple charges including cyber-stalking and making interstate threats. According to prosecutors, “He targeted women at U.S. colleges and universities and was looking for women who were members of sororities ... and aspiring models.” The father of a 15-month-old child would obtain women’s email passwords through “phishing” expeditions. He would send emails pretending to be from Google threatening to shut down the account unless the women verified their personal information and provided a password. Ford then used the password to help gain access to their Internet accounts where they stored photos, the warrant said. Ford’s work computer at the London embassy contained a spreadsheet of 262 email addresses, which prosecutors believe include those of his victims. With one victim, he demanded that she take videos of other girls and “sexy girls” undressing in changing rooms in pools, gyms and clothing stores and then send him the videos. Ford was arrested Sunday as he tried to board a London first-class flight with his family. He made a three-hour confession after his arrest. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Suppose the following scenario occurs; Person A initiates email correspondence with Person B, whom Person A found on the Internet and even though Person B is not out to harm Person A or anyone else and has never threatened Person A or anyone else nevertheless, Person A changes Person A’s email address without telling Person B what Person A’s current email address is thus Person B has no way to contact Person A, Person A never told Person B to stop sending Person A email or not to contact Person A through Facebook or any other social media, and Person A never told Person B what Person B did wrong that Person A no longer wants anything to do with Person B anymore like Person A used to do. Person B sends email to people whom Person A had contacted by means of CC and/or whom Person A knows and Person B tells these people the fact that Person B is worried about Person A, asks these people if Person A is alright, tells these people the fact that Person B hopes that Person A is alright, and asks these people to ask Person A to contact Person B. Why do the laws designate these behaviors done by Person B as stalking, cyberstalking, and/or harassment in spite of the fact that Person B is not out to harm Person A or anyone else and has never threatened Person A or anyone else?
Also, what can Person B do to prove the fact that Person B is not out to harm Person A or anyone else and has never threatened Person A or anyone else?
Furthermore, I have created a petition on the matter and here is the link to the petition; https://www.change.org/p/u-s-house-of-representatives-us-senate-stop-branding-harmless-people-as-stalkers-cyberstalkers-and-harassers
