January 5, 2012 The opening ceremony of the bridge, which was attended by the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderon. President received a certificate confirming that the bridge has set a new world record, inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records. The new bridge was called El Puente Baluarte, which translated from Spanish means "stronghold". The bridge is the record-breaking 1124 meters, width - 20 meters, and its height above the canyon - 403 meters. Experts have calculated that such a height El Puente Baluarte under the bridge could easily fit the Eiffel Tower.
