I think this the 8th wonder of the world. I have visited this site when is constructed. I wondered ever. Good job done by the engineers. Great. I hats off.

@kapiteinbier Dude...REALLY????? If your insulted by my lack of knowledge about how those things are engineered then you have a major issues!! I NEVER said anything insulting, I NEVER made any rude remarks...I was expressing a concern over the hum,an populus that in habits that place. I'd hate to see any type of tragedy happen to thousands of people because of unforseen forces of nature. I happen to think that dredging system is interesting to watch. You kind of insulted me with your reply.

@cnote4461 And what do you think a 'normal' continent would be made of? Obviously the edges of the palm island is protected whith wave breakers made of rock. Your comment is nearly an insult of Dutch engineering!! ;-) We are the best dredgers and land reclaimers in the world. We 've spent the last 500 years fighting water and creating polders. Only once we had a major flooding (1953).

Dubai is a place I'd like to visit - but something tells me that in time, that whole man-made city will be washed underwater by some freak Tsunami. It creeps me just a little to see something that huge sitting in the middle of the water, knowing it's all made of sand and dirt.
-
can we go there for free ,since the american tax payers send Dubai 500 million a year?
-
lol at 20 seconds those little dessert mcmansions
-
i'll be studying civil engineering next year, and these projects are the main reason :) would love to work on one of those
-
you live in Dubai?
-
Nice work !!!

There's a lot of rock and sand inland, at Dubai. But its a massively wasteful and environmentally damaging method, and will die if the sea levels rise even a small amount... unless even more is spent building perimeter dykes.
-
Holy shit.. who came up with this cool idea!?
-
Thats the 8th wonder =D
