A horrific fire engulfed a luxury skyscraper in the United Arab Emirates on New Year’s Eve and there’s reason to believe lax codes might have contributed to the blaze. At approximately 9:30 p.m. local time, the 63-story Address Hotel in the United Arab Emirates’ city pf Dubai, burst into flame. Within five minutes, the fire spread from one floor to about 40 floors, Ali Khedery, a former U.S. diplomat, told The Daily Beast from his apartment in the city.
