ESQUIMALT - Located just five minutes from downtown Victoria, and directly across the harbour, Esquimalt has become a sought after area for developers. And West Bay Marine Group is one of them. They are seeking to re-invent several lots with old rundown houses into a seaside village of sorts. Proposing two ten storey towers with between one-hundred and twenty to one-hundred and thirty units, businesses in the area are in favour of the development. However the township of Esquimalt wants to open up the proposal to people who live in the area. March 14th a meeting will be held at the town hall at 7 p.m. where people can ask questions or voice concerns. Some of the major changes within the development include closing off Head Street and moving the Princess Mary restaurant closer to the waterfront. While the developers also intend to preserve some of the character of the neighbourhood by preserving some old art from one historic house that will be torn down.
