Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made structure in the world, standing at 829.8m (2,722 ft). For the LED screens, 70,000 LED panels positioned over 100,000 brackets and connected by 55,000 metres of cable — that’s roughly 66 times the height of the Burj Khalifa. The panel will span a total of 32,467 square metres that will be used to reflect light or moving images just like an LED television. The LED display on Tuesday night broke the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest LED-Illuminated Façade’ previously held by the Mall Taman Anggrek in Indonesia. As the clock struck midnight, the Burj Khalifa — the world’s tallest tower — was lit up by a six-part fireworks display apart from a laser and light show. The fireworks display, which lasted for about 12 minutes, began with the LED display of the UAE National Flag on the facade of the Burj Khalifa. The whole tower was draped with flashing colours, slowly going up and down the tower. More than 200 people worked round-the-clock for a collective 192,000 man hours to install the fireworks and the LED screens. The show will use 4.7 tonnes of rocket powder for more than 25,000 fireworks from 261 shooting points.
