I remember in the 90's, they told about building a pyramid-city-building (able to have 100 million inhabitants) with nanotubes.

That is ludicrous! The Kanto fault line runs right through Tokyo and is expected to have an estimated 500,000 deaths in an earthquake predicted to occur at any time.... similar to the San Andreas fault line. Tokyo has 27,000,000 people including suburbs so estimated death toll is under what will actually happen. This tower is crazy on steroids.
