Here's the second test-modeling video with another tower... Being a skyscraper fan I thought it'd be interesting to put one of the former World Trade towers in a random island modeling of the game world - now coupled with the newest soon-to-be Earth's Tallest Structure, the Burj Dubai Tower in Dubai, UAE. Again, the goal of the mod wasn't meant for testing the physics of the game but moreso accurately portraying the towers to help myself and others understand the scale where tall buildings once were and where they're going. WTC Model designed in 3ds Max and imported into the CryEngine. BD Model drafted tier by tier in AutoCAD, then imported into 3ds Max and exported into the CryEngine. THANKS to Fury, Culwulla, and others for contributing the floorplan designs, tier heights, and other statistical data over at Skyscrapercity - the largest Burj Dubai forum thread on the Web! Due to difficulties getting textures to work, you'll have to forgive the bleakness of the building. Due to the shear complexity of the tower, not all tiers look perfect, and the higher ones are most certainly mis-scaled in terms of their width (though the height of each tier is correct). There are several times I pull the console down to denote noteworthy heights of skyscrapers but I doubt they're readable with YouTube's compession. In case you can't read them they are: Console dropdown #1 "381 meters" Console dropdown #2 "415 meters" Console dropdown #3 "509 meters" Console dropdown #4 "Have to use acceleration boosts beyond ~585 meters as the game engine restricting chopper's climb..." Console dropdown #5 "700 meters!" Console dropdown #6 "800 meters!" Console dropdown #7 "Final rough height [approximate] of BD = 875 meters! A little high but accurate enough to get the point :)" Music is the Main Theme to the film "The Towering Inferno" and is composed by John Williams.
